Ant & Grasshopper 본문
Ant & Grasshopper
At the moment, a big bucket fell down to the pond from the sky. There was a heavenly soldier in the bucket. He came out of the bucket.
it to his nest. He was looking up at the grasshopper who was singing and playing the guitar in the tree. The ant couldn't understand the grasshopper's action.
Ant: (Looks up at the grasshopper) What are you doing up there?
Grasshopper: am singing songs, as you can see. Life should be enjoyed... (Proudly) like this!
Ant: (Looks up at the grasshopper) How are you going to get through the winter? I feel sorry that you just play everyday. You need to realize that summer is not permanent.
Grasshopper: (Shakes his head) I am going to be just fine, I guess. Why don't you come and talk with me for a while? Have fun with me!
Ant: (Still works on his job) I am very busy moving this food, as you can see.
Grasshopper: Well! Take a break! You don't know what you are missing in your life.
Ant: You don't know what you are missing now!
On a rainy day, as usual, the grasshopper was delightedly chirping, singing and playing the guitar under the tree this time because it was rainy. He was looking at the ant passing by, this time, with a big piece of fruit on his head. The grasshopper really felt sorry for the ant. The ant kept working and working even though it was rainy.
brought in to work together for the winter. The grasshopper felt sorry for them because it was windy.
Grasshopper: (Looks at the ants) Hey, guys! It is very windy! You guys are going to be blown away! I mean it! How can you work in this kind of windy weather?
The ants didn't listen to the grasshopper, and had to move some more ears of corn. They were taking them to their nests for the winter. When he met the grasshopper singing and playing the guitar in a big hole of tree, the ant shook his head.
Ant: (Says to himself) I just can't help it! He should know the saying that heaven helps those who help themselves. (Speaks a little bit more loudly, so the grasshopper can hear it) I am helping to store food for the winter, and want you to do the same thing for the winter.
Grasshopper: What? Why bother about winter? Now, we have got plenty of food.
Ant: Now you do have it, but what about for the winter?
Grasshopper: Don't worry about a thing for the winter. We are going to be just all right.
Ant: (Shrugs his shoulder, he goes on his way.) What else can I do? He just doesn't listen to me. He should realize the fact that the winter is coming soon.
Grasshopper:(As usual, the grasshopper always is happy, and goes back to his singing and playing the guitar.)
cloudy sky! See you around!
Grasshopper: (Feebly) OK... see ya...
The winter came. Finally snow fell, and the weather was freezing cold. The grasshopper had no food and found himself dying of hunger since, as you know, he didn't prepare for the winter, and kept playing during the summer. He had to try to find some food, but it was no use because everything was covered with snow.
Grasshopper: (Stoops himself down tightly) I am starving to death, and so cold. (Crying) How can I stand this hunger and cold weather? (Crying louder) Where can I find some food?
The wind is getting harder and harder. (Looks very sad) The grasshopper is wandering on the street with his guitar. The grasshopper was passing by the ant's house, in which all the family members were together, having nice warm meals. They all looked very happy. The grasshopper wanted to join them.
Grasshopper: (Sighs) How would the ants feel if I dropped by their place now? Would they accept me as a friend? Would they hate me because I just played during summer? ...but where can I go? Whom can I visit?
Grasshopper: (Knocks the door of the ant's house) ...
Ant: (Lightly) Who is it? Who is it?
Grasshopper: (Feebly) It's me. Grasshopper.
Ant: Oh! (Opens the door) What's up? Look at you!
Then the grasshopper knew it is best to prepare for the days of need.
